THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ROLE OF MIDWIFE PRINCIPALLY IN THE SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF CHILE TODAY

Abstract:

Aims: The role of midwife are taking importance in chile, the reason is principally "Chile crece contigo" program. This public reform considers the midwife like the professional principal. This article shows the importance of the role of midwife in our society.

Methods: This article was constructed from the analysis of professional profile from 4 houses of study and of the Midwife college of Chile. Also information of the "Chile crece contigo" program was obtained  and of the information of the Institute of Health it publishes of Chile. All this information was use in order to determine the labor field, the problems of public health related to the above mentioned field and the politics to solve them.

Results: The professional profile considere that Midwife is qualified to integrate equipments of multidisciplinary work in the areas of the normal Gineco-obstetrics, Neonatalogy and of the Sexual and Reproductive Health.

The studies of the Institute of Health it publishes of Chile and "Chile crece contigo" program show that problems of public health related to the labor field of the midwife are teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, the invasive childbirth and arterial hypertension and obesity in the pregnancy.

Conclusions: Today midwife its taking a big importance in our society, this importance will increase in the next years, so the midwifery students have to be conscious about the social importance that they represents.
